SharePoint - Sharing Links Externally

This article is intended to help guide Highlight staff through the steps of sharing a file that is stored in SharePoint to external individuals.

 

Process:

  1. Navigate to the file you would like to share in SharePoint.
  2. Select the file and click on the "Share" button located above the listed documents.

  3. A pop-up window will appear, when sharing outside of Highlight click on "People in Highlight Technologies ,LLC with the link can view"

  4. This will open Link settings, here you can change the settings to "Specific people" and select "Apply" to save any changes. You may also allow editing from this window. 

  5. Enter your recipient's email address, you may add multiple address or add a message if you wish, in the To field and select "Send".

  6. Your recipients will receive a link in their inbox for the document shared. After clicking on the link, the user must log into their Office365 account . Once they have signed in, they will have access to the document you have shared with them.
