MFA Set-Up

Notice: You must have a Highlight Office 365 Account to configure the MFA 

 

Contains: This is a tutorial helping users configure multi-factor authentication (MFA) for their Highlight Microsoft Office 365 account after an IT admin has enabled it. 

Laptop/ Desktop Set-Up

1) Sign into your Highlight account https://portal.office.com 

 

 

2) You will be prompted to enter your email address and temporary password. Enter the credentials that were sent to you via an email titled "Your New Highlight Office 365 Account."

      

 

 

3.) Once your password has been configured, you will be prompted to set-up your Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) 

 

 

 

4.)  Step 1: How Should we Contact you? 

      - Select "Mobile App" 

      - Select " Use verification code" - this will send a verification code to the Authenticator App and you will be required to type in the 6 digit code. Please note that the code changes every 30 seconds. 

        OR

      - Select "Receive notifications for verification" - this will send a push notification to the Authenticator App. All you will be required to do is select "Approve" 

 

 

5.) ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE: Download the Microsoft Authenticator App from the App Store(iPhone iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)

6.) Using your MOBILE DEVICE, scan the QR Code found on your LAPTOP. This will pair your Highlight Account to the Authenticator App. 

 

 

7.)  Once the App and your account have been synced, you will be prompted to input the 6 digit code that populates in the Authenticator App.

 

8.) You will next be prompted to input your mobile number incase you loose access using the mobile app. Enter your preferred personal mobile number (must be able to receive text messages). 

 

 

 

 

9.) To verify your account, enter your mobile phone number and a preferred personal email address. Then verify. You will receive a one time 6 digit code via a text message to verify your mobile number and a 6 digit one time code via email to verify your personal email address. 

10.) Once you have verified your contact methods, you should have green check marks next to your contact methods and will be allowed to select "finish" to complete the set-up

11.) Scan the QR Code that appears on your computer with your phone to sync your account. If the above image does not appear follow the images below:
